In 1948, six independent agents gathered to foster and support the right principles of the fire and casualty insurance profession. This included protecting the interests of the public, encouraging cooperation among the members of the field, and supporting measures designed to prevent fire and promote safety. This was the foundation of the Tulsa Insurance Board, Inc.
Although the organization officially changed it’s name in 1964 to Independent Insurance Agents of Greater Tulsa, Inc., the goals of the founding agents remain. IIAGT seeks to accomplish these objectives through the following actions:
- establishing and maintaining a strong educational program both for the members of the insurance profession and the general public
- supporting various civic projects
- making and retaining vital connections in the insurance industry
- collaborating with similar statewide and national organizations in networking and educational efforts to best develop our members
Historically, membership has been reserved for independent agents. However, we have found it mutually beneficial to include carriers, representatives, and vendors in our meetings. For more information on joining, view our Membership Page.
